Press “h” to doubt
Once upon a time in a land far far away, there was a Danny Fenton. He lived with his two parents, Jack and Maddie Fenton, who loved him very much Thank You.
“Wow I’m so happy my life is normal,” said Danny.
Jack puffed from his pipe and adjusted his top hat. He had just gotten home from a day at the business doing office minutes. “Yes, it is very normal indeed.”
“And I am so proud of you,” Maddie agreed, beaming down at her son. “I’m so proud that you told us you are a half ghost right away. I’m so glad that we work normal jobs—your father at the business and me at the hospital where I heal people—so we can adequately love and support you through this adjustment.”
“I don’t know what other jobs you would work at besides business and hospital (healing), but thank you, parental units.” Danny hugged his parents. “I feel so safe with you both.”
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
“Who could it be?” Maddie brushed her hands on her apron and opened the door to see a man in a black suit.
“Hello, it is the federal bureau of governmet,” the man said, flashing his official looking badge. “We have just caught wind that your son is a half ghost. Because the federal bureau of governmet the Ghost Investing Welfare cares so much about the wellbeing of ghosts, we have decided to give your son a lifetime of free healthcare. This includes dental and eye. He also may be eligible for a yearly bonus.”
“Wow this is so unexpected and wonderful,” Danny said. A single tear escaped his eye.
“Yes well we don’t want to bother you. I smell a lovely casserole in the oven. This reminds me of my own wife and child whom I love very much.” The man tipped his fedora at DAnny. “Please drop by on Monday to fill out the paperwork. I bid you adieu.”
After the federal bureau governmet agent gently shut the door, Danny couldn’t help but sigh as his blue orbs glowed. “Wow, today is wonderful. Thank you, Mother and Father. I surely will sleep well tonight.”
And sure enough, Danny slept more sound than he ever had before.
The end :)
Danny’s smile was a rictus grin. It did not reach his bruised, sunken eyes.
